From the time I was in law school I knew that I wanted to practice family law. My work in family law over the course of the past three decades has affirmed that I made the right and only choice for me. I have been privileged to practice with some of the best and brightest family lawyers and to be able to support family law throughout Texas by serving a term on the Family Law Council of the state bar and working on the Family Law Form Book. I have been recognized by my colleagues by repeatedly being named as a Super Lawyer (a Thomson Reuters listing, 2008-2017), chosen as a Best Lawyer in America, a Woodward White listing, multiple times (2010-2018) and elected to membership in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. The opportunity to work on complex and cutting edge legal issues while being mindful of the personal impact of these matters on my clients has consistently strengthened my passion for family law.
Family law is about more than law; it is also about family. Working in family law is both rewarding and humbling. I am humbled that my clients trust me to handle the most important and personal aspects of their lives and I strive every day to be worthy of that trust. I recognize that when a marriage breaks down one may experience anxiety, fear, anger, disappointment, shock, and hurt. I see it as my job to help my clients recognize their situation, to arm them with the necessary knowledge to enable them to make informed decisions, and to guide and support them through this challenging time. I understand that divorce is not the final chapter and that young families with children need a trusted lawyer to whom they can turn when new situations arise, promises are not fulfilled, or orders are ignored. I enjoy helping couples understand our community property laws and assisting them in planning for their property interests prior to or during their marriage through unique and individualized property agreements to suit their particular goals and needs. When the judicial system has not rendered the legally proper result, I also stand ready and able to counsel clients and to assist them in navigating the appellate process.
While no two days of work are the same and no two clients alike, my goal and mission is constant and unchanging: to render the highest quality legal services possible. Although my work with my clients is my highest professional honor and focus, the most important part of my life is my three daughters. They ground me, keep me in tune with the times and constantly remind me what is really important about life.
